Make Your Dreams A Reality

“You can have anything you want in this world as long as you believe it.”

I believe that anything and everything is possible, and that we are completely capable of creating our dream life.

If you can imagine it, you can achieve it.  I know because I’ve experienced this myself and I’ve seen many others do the same.

So, why can’t you?

The answer may be that you have limiting beliefs which are trying to spare you from disappointment. Don’t worry, we all have them and they can keep us from reaching the next level of happiness and fulfillment that’s available to us.

These limiting beliefs are created in many different ways and at many different times in our lives. We have a lot of limiting beliefs that stem from childhood, and there are also limiting beliefs that come are a result of something that we experienced as an adult.

For example, if you experienced a couple of rejections from a well-deserved promotion, you might come to develop the limiting belief that what you have to offer isn’t good enough and as a result, you aren’t good enough to be promoted.

Or if you’ve tried to adopt a new healthy lifestyle and weren’t able to stick to it for whatever reason, you might develop the limiting belief that you have no willpower and therefore can’t achieve optimal health. What’s surprising is that most of the time, we don’t even realize we’re doing this!

As a child, I went through a couple of separations, which led me to believe that true love was hard to come by.  I also believed that relationships were supposed to have many hardships.  I remember my mother never being quite happy and stating how normal it was for women to sacrifice their happiness and well-being for their family.  Of course, she believed this because she was also taught to believe this.

For many years, I thought that I didn’t deserve to be in a happy and fulfilling relationship and that women needed to put themselves last on the list to make sure everyone else was happy and well taken care of. Obviously, this didn’t make sense, but this is simply the way limiting beliefs work.

I still have to be extremely cautious of my thoughts and feelings at all times to ensure that my limiting beliefs aren’t sabotaging my success, my relationships, and more.

So in order for you to be fully aware of your limiting beliefs, there is a 7-step process you can use to get rid of them. To better understand and integrate this amazing exercise, make sure you read my previous article.

7 steps to get rid of your limiting beliefs

1. REALIZE YOUR LIMITING BELIEFS ARE ONLY FEAR-BASED.

They are holding you back because you want to protect yourself from something – whether you consciously know it or not. It’s that simple!

2. LIST YOUR BELIEFS.

This might take a while so take some time and list them off. Some limiting thoughts might be..

  1. I’m not good enough.
  2. I don’t deserve it.
  3. Others can make money easily but I can’t.
  4. People don’t find me attractive so I can’t find a partner.
  5. I’m not important.
  6. I’m too old to do this.
  7. I’m too young to start this.
  8. I have the worst luck.
  9. People will always betray me.
  10. I’m a terrible judge of character.

Keep writing until you can’t write anymore, and don’t worry if your list is a page or two. The key is to create awareness so these limiting beliefs don’t continue to derail you!

3. CHOOSE ONE OF YOUR LIMITING BELIEFS THAT YOU BELIEVE IS KEEPING YOU FROM YOUR DREAMS IN A BIG WAY.

It could be anything that you wrote down. Simply choose one to start with.

4. WRITE DOWN A TIME THAT IT WASN’T TRUE.

For example, if you said “People will always betray me”, think of a time when you were able to trust and depend on someone and write it down. You’re essentially collecting evidence that this limiting belief isn’t true. Dig deep. Find examples to disprove this belief. Write down as many as you can.

5. WRITE DOWN YOUR NEW, EMPOWERED BELIEF!

It should be the opposite of your original limiting belief. So, in this example, “I’m not good enough!” now becomes “I am capable of achieving my goals, because the knowledge and experience I have gained throughout my life is sufficient.”

6. REPEAT THIS NEW PHRASE THROUGHOUT THE DAY, WEEK, AND MONTH UNTIL IT’S SOMETHING THAT YOU NOW BELIEVE TO BE TRUE!

And continue to monitor your thoughts. If you feel this old limiting belief coming up again, simply repeat your new empowered belief!

7. CONTINUE DOING THIS WORK WITH ALL OF YOUR LIMITING BELIEFS.

…so you can move forward and create the health, body, and life you have always wanted!
